Digicel Rising Star Anna Mariah Delivers First Single “RUSH” (@annamariahmusic @TheNewGuru)
Anna Mariah, Digicel Rising Stars Season 12 Runner Up who thrilled audiences each week with fashion, flair, dramatic performances and powerhouse vocals is back in the spotlight with the release of her first single – RUSH – produced by Othniel ‘Taddy P’ Campbell for independent record label, Soundsx360.
Inspired by a classic hit from the 90s, RUSH pays tribute to the entertainment icon, Paula Abdul and features an infectious fusion of Anna Mariah’s breathy, sultry vocals on an uptempo dancehall beat. Manager and Executive Producer of the project, Simone Harris states
“We wanted a song that would channel Anna’s organic style – she’s a young, beautiful, island girl who has real appeal and we felt that RUSH with this contemporary spin would do just that”
Anna Mariah, who is also in her final semester at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts: School of Music is focused on building a solid musical career and carving out her own place in the music industry. Commenting on her first commercial release, Anna Mariah says:
“It’s an overwhelming feeling…bordering on unbelievable, I am incredibly proud of my work on this track with Taddy P. We put a lot of hard work into RUSH as my first release, and I have a lot more to come”
Taddy P, who has been a mentor to Anna Mariah and who encouraged her to pursue her passion for music says:

With powerful, sultry vocals and sex appeal, Anna Mariah is poised to become Jamaica’s next singing sensation.
Inspired by a generation of musical divas such as Marcia Griffiths, Whitney Houston, Aqua, Mary J Blige, and Tessanne Chin; Anna’s musical style channels the exotic island girl she is and is reminiscent of a committed performer who captivates and commands her audience with style and intensity.
Anna Mariah (affectionately called Anna) took her first steps towards following her passion for music when she became lead vocalist in the Herbert Morrison Technical High School band. In 2010, the band won the title of “Best High School Band” in Jamaica and upon graduating; Anna was accepted into the prestigious School of Music at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts to pursue a BA in Jazz and Popular Studies, where she holds the position of Student Council Secretary and is the recipient of several academic scholarships including the Lois Sherwood Burger King Scholarship, the Angela Harvey Scholarship (presented by the US Embassy) as well as a scholarship from the CHASE Fund.
During her time at the college, Anna has taken every opportunity to engage with practitioners in the music industry in Jamaica – performing on several major events around the island, providing vocal support in studio to a number of producers including Christopher Birch, as well as on stage with artists such as Denyque, Konshens, Ikaya, and J Capri. She was also contracted by Headline Entertainment as supporting vocalist for the 2015 Pepsi Refresh Tour.
Anna is currently in her final semester of studies and has balanced academics with practical experience finishing 3rd in season 12 of Jamaica’s Digicel Rising Stars competition and signing a management contract with 360 ARTISTS. Anna is now in the process of recording and releasing her first singles with a core team of local producers.
