Contributed Article – Jamaican emcee, writer and performer, DeeWunn, has been making waves of late with his first viral hit single “Mek It Bunx Up” which was produced by Kunley McCarthy of Ward 21 and features female deejay, Marcy Chin.

Not only has “Mek It Bunx Up” become a certified viral success climbing to over 5 million views and counting on YouTube, it is now charting on various Top 40 charts across Europe and thanks to being embraced by Parris Goebel (Noted choreographer of videos for Rihanna, 2ne1, Big Bang, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber including his smash hit Sorry) it has created a dance video craze that has swept the world spawning hundreds if not thousands of user made videos with views in the millions for some of the most popular uploads.

Deewunn, who describes himself as a Spanish Town “yute”, is known for his rapid fire flow that seamlessly fuses hip hop beats and lyricism with his Jamaican background and smooth rhythmic accent to create what he says can be best described as “Hybrid Music for a Hybrid Culture”

He continues to say, “With the success of Parris Goebels impromptu video, she went ahead and included Mek It Bunx Up in her set list for World Of Dance Los Angeles in 2015. Since then we have not only gotten to know each other but we have also become partners in rhyme after she invited me to pen some lyrics for her upcoming artist debut and unoh need fi look out for 2 collabs weh ago tun di world OVA!”

On top of all of this, Deewunn is also preparing to embark on his first European tour this fall that will see him visiting countries such as Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and more.

We are more than excited to announce that before he leaves, Deewunn will be performing at a handful of shows in Montreal & Toronto including Redemption: Toronto’s Reggae Festival, Saturday August 13th at the Polson Pier.
