Submitted – Internationally renowned reggae artiste Anthony Smith, formerly known as Apache, has reinvented his brand and is making waves in the music industry as Jahranimo.
Jahranimo, who grew up in the parish of St James, is busy making his name a household one with his reformed sound and lyrics. Jahranimo started his musical journey at age 13 and has been moving forward since.

REVOLUTIONARY ARTISTE
In 2001, he decided that he wanted to be an artiste among the revolutionaries and branded himself as a “true Rasta man”.

“I always knew that this was my calling and after going to Canada, I decided to take my career more seriously and put together a compilation album, titled In Jamaica, as a part of my movement against oppressors,” said Jahranimo.

By 2004, he released his first solo album, Real Life, that topped the international reggae charts in several countries.

Additionally, one single from the album, Jah Jah Love, was used in the Canadian TV series Falcon Beach.
In 2008, he released his second album Praises, and not long after, he topped the international reggae charts again with a single from the album titled I’m Free, featuring Jah Cure.
“The sounds and knowledge of Bob Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Super Cat, Garnett Silk, Sizzla, Big Youth and U-Roy play a great part in my career. I look up to each of these artistes and respect the foundation they have set for artistes like myself,” he said.
Jahranimo is set to release a new album in 2017 titled Evolving, which he describes as his best work yet.

“Fans will definitely love this album because it represents change, and hopefully it tops the reggae charts, both locally and internationally,” he said.
